How to Pay Your Rent
Direct Debit
The easiest way to pay your rent is by Direct Debit. Simply log in to your Sturents account via the app or website and follow the online instructions to set up your payments.
Please note:
Direct Debits can only be set up using a UK bank account.
Payments will be collected automatically on the dates shown in your tenancy agreement.
Mangopay
International and online payments can be made through Mangopay using your Sturents account.
Please ensure your payment covers any transfer or bank charges. Underpayments caused by bank fees may delay your payment being received.
Credit or Debit Card
If you have checked into your accommodation, you can pay at your property's reception.
Paying Your Rent with Student Finance
If you're using your UK Student Loan to pay your accommodation rent, Mansion Student offers a Student Finance deferment service. This allows your rent payment dates to be moved so they match the dates you receive your maintenance loan.
How Does Student Finance Deferment Work?
To arrange a deferment, we'll need evidence of your Student Finance payment schedule.
Once approved, we'll delay your rent due dates so they're aligned with your student loan payments.
It's a simple way to help you manage your finances throughout the academic year.
Student Finance England
Students paying in three instalments can request their rent payment dates to match their Student Finance England maintenance loan payments.
Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS)
Students receiving funding through SAAS can also apply for a deferment.
SAAS payments may be made over the academic year or across 12 months, depending on the option you've selected when applying for funding.
How to Apply for a Student Finance Deferment
If you've chosen to pay in three instalments or by 10 monthly payments, you may be eligible to defer your rent payments.
Please email your documents to:
deferments@mansionstudent.co.uk
Please include the name of the Mansion Student property where you'll be living.
You'll need to provide:
A screenshot showing your maintenance loan payment dates and amounts (all three payments or your payment schedule)
A screenshot of your Student Finance Entitlement Summary showing:
Your name
Your total maintenance loan entitlement
The screenshots must clearly display all dates and payment amounts.
What Happens Next?
Once your deferment has been approved, you'll receive an email asking you to accept the updated payment schedule. Your deferment isn't active until you've accepted these changes.
Until then, you'll need to continue following the payment dates in your original tenancy agreement.
If you haven't yet received your Student Finance documentation, we're unable to approve a deferment. Please contact your Student Finance provider to obtain the required documents.
Please note:
Deferments can only be applied using the official dates shown on your Student Finance Entitlement Summary.
All residents must update their rent collection schedule to reflect the approved payment dates.
